Wicked Kansas City Theatre reviews
Great Acting, Good Vocals, Poor Microphones
The show was amazing, these things that I mention are constructive and could help to make the show better, for most of the first half, the microphones/audio was not functioning properly--it was obvious. They did fix it at the very beginning of Defying Gravity, I think it spooked the girl playing Glinda (I know it would have spooked me) and she messed up on a line (I don't blame her, I sincerely think it was the audio that messed up her tempo and caused her to fumble the lyrics) the vocals were good. Some of the notes were not reached like I was hoping to experience the F# in Defying Gravity, and some of the chords should have been held longer during multiple songs. I felt like the actors were holding back, they are so talented, I wish their director could have pushed them to take it to that next level.
